Mt Aspiring National Park

New Zealand's third largest national park is a paradise for walkers with its mix of spectacular mountains, glaciers, alpine lakes, and its namesake Mt Aspiring, an impressive 3033 metres high. Straddling the 'great divide' of the Southern Alps, Mount Aspiring National Park is home to a diverse range of landscapes with varied ecosystems.
There are a number of entry points into the park, from Wanaka popular day walks include: the Aspiring Hut walk (5 hr return) and the Rob Roy track (3 hr return). The Rob Roy Glacier Guided Walk combines the beauty of the Rob Roy track with an entertaining and informative tour lead by knowledgeable guides. A great range of short and long walks can also be accessed from Makarora, including the popular 30 minute walk to the Blue Pools. From Queenstown and Glenorchy there are beautiful day walks including one of the most popular Great Walks, the Routeburn Track.
