Geraldine sits at the foot of rolling countryside and is bisected by the tranquil Waihi River. Just 5 minutes from town is a rare remnant of lowland podocarp native forest with breathtaking views over plains and mountains while in the picturesque town you will find many local artists and craftsman's wares for sale plus some fine local foods.
A great place to visit is the Geraldine vintage car and machinery museum. Here you will find a display of over 1400 exhibits from the South Canterbury area including over 100 tractors, 30 vintage and veteran cars plus other items including farm machinery, a very rare Spartan biplane, hot air and stationery engines plus lots more.
At Gem Alpaca Stud you will meet and greet their Alpaca, Llama and sheep. Get in the paddocks with the Alpaca and Llama. See very clearly the difference between the two camelids species. At the right time of year you will also meet the cria (Baby Alpaca/Llama). Your farm visit will take approximately 1 hour.
