Waipara Wine Region Tour

The South Island of New Zealand has some of the southernmost vineyards in the world, with climatic conditions producing wines that are distinctive and unique.  The Waipara Valley in north Canterbury, is Canterbury's premier wine-growing region, and is about 50 minutes' drive north of Christchurch. Waipara is one of the fastest growing wine producing regions in New Zealand, currently boasting over 80 vineyards and wineries. The region is an ideal cool-climate grape growing area, with Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc dominating local plantings. Recent investment in the region by some of New Zealand's larger wine producers, mean that Waipara is set to become a major player in the New Zealand wine industry.
This Waipara Wine Tour takes you to four award-winning Waipara wineries, such as Pegasus Bay Winery, Mud House Wines, Waipara Springs Winery, Torlesse Wines, Muddy Water Wine, Terrace Edge Wines, Black Estate Wine, Bishops Head  Wine, where you will  taste many wines and view the vineyards. The wine tour includes a guided tour through the largest commercial  winery in the Waipara Valley, where you will see where the wine is made and learn about how it is made.  You will also be taken on a short biodiversity trail to learn about non-pesticide and sustainable solutions that help protect Waipara's vineyards. A delicious lunch platter at one of the wineries is also included.
