As a company working predominantly online, we are very proud to be the founding sponsor for the anti-cyber-bullying group Sticks n’ Stones - made up of over 70 passionate Central Otago young people between the ages of 12 and 17, Sticks ‘n Stonesis committed to creating change and taking positing action against cyber-bullying.
Began in Canada in 2009 when a group of students decided to take a stand against bullying after the harassment of a fellow student over his pink shirt. Since then, Pink Shirt Day has grown into a global annual event that celebrates community, diversity and positive social relationships.
This Friday we will be holding a Pink Shirt Day morning tea at our Wanaka and Auckland offices. Our staff will be sporting their brightest pink clothes and we will be taking the time to reflect on how we have each been affected by bullying in our own lives, whether directly or indirectly.
There are no quick fixes when it comes to combating bullying – we stand with our local community as we help to work towards a culture that does not accept bullying in any form, so that in the future we can be proud to be part of a community in which everyone feels safe, accepted and respected, regardless of age, sex, religion, or any other factor for discrimination.
